That just about does it for National Friends of Li That just about does it for National Friends of Libraries Week 2024! What we've posted is just a tiny fraction of what the Friends have done this year, and we really want to emphasize that! There are hundreds of members and even more volunteers all over Fresno County (and sometimes beyond) who give their time and money every day to help make sure their communities have the best library experiences possible. If you'd like to join us, we're always happy to have you! Our Bookshop is open three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM at 5568 E Kings Canyon, next to the Sunnyside Library) and could always use more volunteers! (If you just want to shop for books, though, that's great, too! Your purchases help us pay for things like extra Summer At Your Library programs and t-shirts to give away to kids!) The Sanger Friends have a plethora of regular prog The Sanger Friends have a plethora of regular programs and activities, many of which are remarkably popular! Some of their weekly programs include Coloring With Friends, Move It (an exercise group), Yarn Club, and Chess Club. The chess club has even gone to several competitions and done quite well! The Sanger Friends have hosted a Murder Mystery event for two years now, with help from the Blossom Trail Players. These events include desserts, appetizers, and drinks and have been a fun after-hours activity. Some of the programs the Sanger Friends have sponsored this year include performances by Halau Hula, magician Tim Mannix, Gilly Girls, Epic Aerial, and African Drum Interactive. The Reedley Friends have made some great contribut The Reedley Friends have made some great contributions to their library this year. They regularly sponsor supplies for programs and activities, including cubes for the Cubing Club, Snap Circuits and Legos for the Makers Club, and jewelry supplies for jewelry workshops. They help make sure that people of all ages have ways to learn new skills, occupy their hands, and have fun, free ways to spend time in Reedley! In addition to sponsoring supplies, the Reedley Friends regularly provide snacks and refreshments for programs, such as Talent Tuesday, which happens once a month, with a different focus each time.
